This applied session demonstrates ways to integrate ChatGPT into lesson planning to provide personalized multi-modal learning materials for EAL/EFL students. Teachers can craft authentic dialogues, reading passages, writing prompts, and so on by inputting the learners' proficiency level, learning objectives, age group, and interests. The presenters also address ChatGPT pitfalls.
Dr. Jim Hu is an Associate Professor of English language learning and teaching at Thompson Rivers University. His research interests include academic writing, plagiarism prevention, and artificial intelligence.
Jason Brown is a lecturer in the ESL Department at Thompson Rivers University. He has been teaching ESL/EFL since 1994 including eight years overseas teaching experience in Japan and India.
