Relations between Indigenous people and new immigrants and settlers to Canada are traditionally strained and shaped by misconceptions and stereotypes and result in avoidance and suspicion and competition. What role can English language instruction play in bridging those cultural divides toward reconciliation and relationships? What lessons can Canada learn from this approach?
